Video Projector Buying Guide
By Tanner Larsson

Choosing the right video projector to meet your needs has never been easier. With new projectors at varying price points being released onto the market practically every day there is a projector designed to meet almost any need, from the most basic to the most complex.

However, there is a problem with so many video projectors on the market and that problem is – narrowing down your choice to the one video projector you will buy. The rest of this article will make an effort to help you make that decision.

The most important aspects in choosing a video projector are:

Resolution
The resolution of the video projector is what determines how smooth and clear your picture will be. This is the number of pixels, and the more pixels you get , the better the image you will see. Also the higher the resolution, the more the video projector will cost.
The most common projector resolutions are 800x600 (this is the standard), 1024x768 (this is the resolution of most laptops), 1080x1024, 1600x1280 (this is the largest format available and projects the most impressive images).

Luminosity
Video projectors project light onto a screen, which is referred to as luminosity and measured in units called lumens. The more lumens your projector has the brighter the light produced and the farther the video projector can be situated from the screen and still project a clear image. Unless you will always be using your video projector at a distance of less than twenty feet, you should only buy a projector that has a output of 1,000 lumens or more.

Size and Weight
If you will be using your video projector for presentations and portability is important, then you need to take into consideration the size and weight of the projector, in your case smaller is better. On the other hand if your projector is for home use and will be mounted on the ceiling or wall of your home, the dimensions might not be an issue, however the weight most definitely will be an important factor.

Location
Where the video projector will be located and projecting from is also very important to consider. If it is a large room then you will need a higher powered video projector with lots of lumens. Also important is the your ability to darken and dim the room so that it is dark enough so that the image projected from the video projector is sharp and clear.
