Floor Insulation
Rooms can sometimes feel cold due to strong drafts rising up from gaps between the floorboards or between the skirting board and the floor. In a well-insulated house floors in the unheated areas like garages and basements can contribute to heat loss. If there is careful planning insulating the floors of garage or basement is not a difficult task.
Basement floor insulation The basement floor insulation barrier will help keep warm air in, and the vapor barrier will keep unwanted moisture out. Insulation is a product when installed works efficiently, quietly and is enclosed within a structure, casing or under cladding. While installing insulation the minutest of details needs to taken into consideration as any shortfall in the thickness or error in the type and application details will prove costly to rectify later. How to insulate the floors over basements Seal all penetrations into conditioned spaces above with caulk or foam prior to insulating. Check plumbing and electrical penetrations especially those that go up through the walls. Spread the base gravel under the basement slab and then place a 1-inch layer of 4'x8' extruded polystyrene foam board over the gravel. Tape the joints between the boards with builder's tape and also see to it that the tape has no gaps and tear. This builder's tape will act as the vapor barrier. Place metal insulation support rods, also known as tiger teeth to support the insulation. Compress the batt no more than an inch with the curved rod. Types of floor insulation products 1. Polyfoam floorboard is a thermal insulation of floors. It is know for its ozone friendly, high performance and rigid board insulation. The other features are lightweight, excellent structural strength and long-term life span. Polyfoam floorboard is available in three grades. They are standard used for general domestic flooring, extra and super polyfoam floorboard is used for commercial and industrial flooring. 2. Rockwool rockfloor is a tissue faced high compressive strength slab designed for acoustic and thermal insulation of ground and separating floors. These insulators are easy to handle and fit. They are highly compressive resistant and have efficient and effective acoustic and thermal properties. 3. Rocksil floor slabs are used to insulate the timber floors. This product is known for its acoustic and thermal properties. They are rigid and compression resistant slab of rock mineral wool.

Acoustic Insulation Noise levels and sound in homes may not be completely done away with but there are definitely ways of reducing the extent to which noise is heard. Acoustical insulation products reduce the flow of sound and are used as sound-deadeners. Also known as... Asbestos Insulation Asbestos insulation, although not in use these days, is a material that has properties such as being fireproof, resistant to chemical wear and tear and also known for its good thermal and electrical insulation properties. Where was asbestos... Boiler Insulation Boilers are often in use for thousands of hours in year. During such use, they emit heat into the surrounding atmosphere. This results in heat loss due to radiation and conduction which reduces the performance of the boilers over a period of time.... Cork Insulation Tape Cork insulation tape is an insulation product formulated to be used on pipes, fittings, tubes and such other areas where conventional insulation materials may not be used effectively. With almost the same properties of insulation as provided by... Icynene Insulation The Icynene Insulation System is a complete insulation and air barrier system that winds proofs and seal the wall, and floor and ceiling cavities against air movement, including spaces around electrical outlets and light fixtures, at baseboards and... Insulation Megger Resistance Test The Megger test indicates the condition of ground insulation. However, it does not measure the turn-to-turn state of the insulation, and may not register localized weaknesses. Insulation Megger resistance tester is used to measure the insulation... Insulation Product The purpose of these materials is to protect the walls after proper insulation, from heat radiations as it provides thermal barrier on the surface of the walls. They should be perfectly to the R-value, which implies to the industry standard unit of... Insulation Insulation is a method by which a home or building can be protected from the extreme weather conditions. Providing insulation for any living space means the cold air from the outside is prevented from entering the interior and at the same time the... Owens Corning Insulation Owens Corning Insulation Company is situated in Toledo, OH. It is believed that this company is the world's largest producer of insulation products and systems. Fiberglass is said to be an invention of the Owens Corning Insulation Company.... Wall Insulation Insulating walls of a house is important because it will help keep the cold or the heat outside and help maintain a constant temperature in the house. A lot of money on utility bills for heating and cooling can be saved if insulation is in place.... |
