Fiberglass Roll Insulation
Fiberglass roll insulation is a manufactured fibrous insulation material. Fiberglass roll insulation is available in the form of short batts or in long rolls to facilitate insulation of open spaces within a short span of time.
Where is fiberglass roll insulation used? Fiberglass roll insulation is used to either fill up tight spaces or used to cover open areas. This can include basement walls, floors, concrete walls and any other living or conditioned space in the home. Fiberglass is an excellent insulation material and has the same performance qualities as those of other home insulation products. How is fiberglass roll insulation installed? Rolls of fiberglass insulation are available in either fifteen or twenty-three inch wide rolls. The rolls normally measure up to twenty-five feet long which enables quicker installation against walls. Before the rolls of fiberglass insulation are hung against the walls, studs made of wood are fixed to the walls using hardened concrete nails. The fiberglass roll insulation is then cut according to the required size and fixed firmly between the studs. Duct tapes can help secure the insulation to its place. Once the insulation is complete, drywall or wood paneling can be used to cover the fiberglass roll insulation. A few more tips on fiberglass roll insulation Although fiberglass is not known to cause any harm, it is advisable to use masks and gloves when the insulation is being installed. Fiberglass should be kept at a safe distance away from chimneys, flues or any other heat sources. The exact amount of fiberglass roll required should preferably be determined before it is purchased and cut into sheets. This will prevent unnecessary wastage. Fiberglass roll insulation supplies Most home improvement and local home supply stores stock fiberglass roll insulation. Although it is easy to install, it is better to hire an insulation contractor who would be able to determine the amount of insulation roll required for the walls of the house. The insulation contractor can be hired through insulation supply or contracting companies. They are usually listed in the area directory or can be contacted through the yellow pages.
